How Miss Rutherford Got Her Groove Back

by Sophie Barnes

How Miss Rutherford Got Her Groove BackEmily Rutherford is having a very bad day.
Of course, having the man you’ve loved forever announce his engagement to your (now very former) best friend will do that.
Emily is sure nothing good could possibly come out of this horrid situation. But she lets her sisters—along with Francis Riley, the delectable but brooding Earl of Dunhurst—convince her that a season in London will be just the thing.
Now Emily has a choice: sulk in a corner while her sisters enjoy the glitter of the ton . . . or become the belle of the ball, dazzling everyone on an earl’s arm. But as Francis helps Emily get back on her feet, she quickly realizes that a childhood crush is nothing compared to the power of true love.

Review:
Really enjoyable read. Well written, entertaining, easy to follow, sweet, interesting, charming with just the right combination of romance, adventure and intrigue.
The characters came alive at the turn of every page and one cannot help sufferring and rejoicing with each one of them as you come to understand what makes them tick and cheer them on in their quest for love, adventure and a sense of purpose. The plot line is well laid out and keeps the story flowing while maintaining the reader's interest throughout. A keeper!

Too Tempting to Resist

 by Cara Elliott

Too Tempting to Resist (Lords of Midnight, #2)In the Wolf's Lair . . .
Determined to stop her wayward brother from squandering their dwindling fortune, Lady Eliza Brentford decides to follow him to his favorite den of depravity. There, among the candlelight and raucous revelry, she encounters her brother's role model in debauchery, the notorious Marquess of Haddan, Gryffin Dwight. Staring into his smoldering green eyes, Eliza can't help but find the rakehell nobleman seductively charming-and sinfully attractive.

In a Lover's Paradise . . .
When Gryffin appears on Eliza's estate as a guest of her brother, a stolen kiss among the garden's blooms leads to a night of unbridled passion. Suddenly the lovely widow feels herself opening up, like the petals of a rose. Could this master of seduction possibly feel true emotion for Eliza? Or is he leading her down the garden path to an Eden of delights no woman can resist-and a fall no woman can escape?

Review:
"This was another great novel from Cara Elliott and I am so enjoying her presentation of historical heroines who are above and beyond the usual boring ladies. Where Pride and Prejudice gave us Lizzy Bennet who was lively and defiant for her time, Cara Elliott takes her heroines just a little bit further. Lizzy Bennet wanted to marry someone who would take her for her small dowry. Cara Elliott's heroines take control of their own future and defy convention of the time to try to earn their own income to take care of themselves."

Never Seduce a Scoundrel

by Sabrina Jeffries

Never Seduce a Scoundrel (School for Heiresses, Book 1)"Be careful, Amelia -- you know how reckless you can be!" -- Mrs. Charlotte Harris, headmistress
Lady Amelia Plume has many admirers -- it's too bad they're all fortune hunters and fops who can't provide the exotic adventures she seeks.
But the ballrooms of Mayfair have become much more appealing since the arrival of Major Lucas Winter, an American with a dark past and a dangerous air. Lucas is brash, arrogant -- and scandalously tempting.
Every thrilling kiss sparks hotter desire, yet Amelia suspects that Lucas has a hidden motive in wooing her. And she intends to discover it, by any means necessary.

Review
Never Seduce a Scoundrel has its high points, namely the intriguing hero and the spicy physical relationship between the leads. While the heroine wasn't my cup of tea, I'd willingly pick up another in the series.

A Lady's Revenge

by Tracey Devlin

A Lady's Revenge (Nexus, #1)British agent Cora deBeau has spent the last three years seducing secrets from the most hardened of French spies while searching for her parents’ killer. When her latest assignment goes awry, she suffers at the hands of her French captor until Guy Trevelyan, the Earl of Helsford and master cryptographer, saves her during a daring rescue. Scarred and wary of men, Cora shies away from the one man who could heal her savaged heart.

After rescuing Cora from a French dungeon, Guy discovers it was one of his deciphered messages that led to her captivity. While her enemy tracks them across England, Guy strives to earn her forgiveness. But will he find the scars on her wounded soul run too deep?

Review
A first in the Nexus series, filled with action, suspense, revenge, justice, a little torture and a kidnapping. A book about revenge which killed the romance a bit, probably the biggest drawback for me. I believe that character development may have suffered a little due to the intensity of this book, nonetheless still a great read.

In Bed With The Devil

by Lorraine Heath

In Bed With the Devil (Scoundrels of St. James, #1)
They call him the Devil Earl—a scoundrel and accused murderer who grew up on the violent London streets. A proper young lady risks more than her reputation when consorting with the roguishly handsome Lucian Langdon, but Lady Catherine Mabry believes she has no choice. To protect those she loves, she would do anything—even strike a bargain with the devil himself.

Lucian desires respectability and a wife above all else, but the woman of his choosing lacks the social graces to be accepted by the aristocracy. Catherine can help Lucian gain everything he wants. But what she asks for in exchange will put their very lives in jeopardy. When danger closes in, Catherine discovers a man of immense passion and he discovers a woman of immeasurable courage. As secrets from his dark past are revealed, Lucian begins to question everything he knows to be true, including the yearnings of his own heart.

Review:
"It was great...nice suspense...lovely twist and outcome. Lorraine Heath has done it again. I greatly recommend? It is a page turner I couldn't put it down."

The Seduction of an English Scoundrel

by Jillian Hunter

It would have been the wedding of the year–had the groom, Sir Nigel Boscastle, bothered to put in an appearance. To the shock of her distinguished guests, the respectable Lady Jane Welsham is left humiliated at the altar. Yet truth be told, although outwardly ruined she is elated to have escaped marriage to a man she does not love.

Enter Grayson Boscastle, the irresistible Marquess of Sedgecroft (and cousin to Nigel). Grayson’s duty is clear: salvage the young lady’s pride and reestablish the family’s good name, while repairing his own tarnished reputation as one of London’s most notorious scoundrels. Their whirlwind affair is the talk of the ton. Yet nothing is as it seems between the bewitching Lady Jane, who knows that her wedding was cleverly sabotaged, and her charming rogue, as they are drawn into an amusing game of seduction and secrets.

Book reviewed by Lynn Lamy
I really enjoyed the tension between the two main characters, and the fact that, while the sexual tension was great, they also enjoyed each other's company and intelligence. I also really liked Sedgecroft's struggle with his sister; he wants to order her around, and she wants her brother, not a tyrant. Lady Jane was good at getting Sedgecroft to see what his sister really needs. They argue, but not constantly, which is more believable to me than the constant bickering of some hero/heroine couples. Sedgecroft and Jane both have a sense of humor, and they let it show.
The premise that a relationship with Lady Jane would help the Boscastle family's reputation was a bit thin. I don't quite know how Sedgecroft being with Jane would improve his family's standing in society. I also didn't like the way that Jane and Sedgecroft finally come together. It seemed a bit too contrived to me, in that Jane acted in a way I didn't think she would have, and lots of people all came together in a strange situation. All in all, though, it was a fun read, with fun minor characters (loved Jane's sisters!) and good humour.

Wicked Weekend by Gillian Archer

 by Gillian Archer

Why did Lauren Vaughn introduce her sister to the man she herself was crazy about?
Now Lauren is watching the happy couple at their combined bachelor/bachelorette party—while Lauren sits all alone at the bar. Until she spots a hot stranger with the telltale black handkerchief in his pocket: the signal for “seeks no-strings affair with sexy submissive.”
Lauren can’t take her eyes off him. So when he comes over, she kicks her inner good girl to the curb and follows Jamie Forman to his room, where he makes her scream with pleasure all night long. But Jamie is a complicated man. He can’t handle how desperately he wants her in his bed—and his life. It’s up to Lauren to teach him how to make all night last forever.

Read in April, 2012 As posted on DelightedReader.com by AURORA

"Lauren has agreed to a bachlorette/bachelor party weekend for her sister who is marrying her former crush at a ski resort not realizing that she is about to open up her mind and fulfill her fantasies. This book was a quick read. The story was very fast. Lauren meets Jamie in the hotel bar and within three sentences is negotiating some BDSM play. Including safe words and condom talk and a brief conversation about The Scene. Lauren agrees to open her mind and legs ( hehehe sorry) for a night of role playing. Jamie is a player in the Las Vegas BDSM scene and willing to be the first for her.

The book is fun and entertaining but again, there is only so much that can go wrong in 79 pages. I would have loved to delve deeper into Lauren and Jamie’s past and learn what lead them both to the BDSM World. Laurne’s sister also seems to have a special relationship with her fiancĂ©e and I think that would have been a great segway on Wicked Weekend by Gillian Archer."
